My name is Eva Lotte Lisander and I am an artist and ceramist based in Rotterdam, NL.
One of my primary interests lies in the exploration of materials, gaining an understanding of their inherent properties through experimentation and serendipity. I am particularly interested in delving into the dynamic interplay between the creator and the material.
Over time, this fascination has guided me to delve into the world of traditional craftsmanship, where I've come to appreciate the deeply ingrained and often lifelong wisdom possessed by skilled artisans regarding their chosen materials.
My journey in this realm commenced when I embarked on an apprenticeship under the tutelage of skilled potter and craftswoman Heike Rabe. Since then, I have been consistently engaged in learning, exploring, and, above all, captivated by the versatile medium of clay.
My ceramics cover a wide range of functional forms, including tableware, unique vases, containers and urns, as well as larger pieces such as wormeries for kitchens and custom-made sinks for bathrooms. I also make sculptural pieces.
Most of my work is made from stoneware and thrown on a potter's wheel. The pieces are fired in an electric kiln at temperatures around 1260 degrees.
